Arrive in Tanzania

You will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. You will meet your guide who will brief you on your upcoming trek and perform an equipment check to make sure you have all the necessary mountain gear. Any missing gear will be recommended and provided on a rental basis.

Day 1

Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast, we will drive to the Marangu Park gate at an altitude of 1,860m. We will then walk (2,744m/9,000ft) through a dense semi-tropical rain forest to Mandara Hut, where we will enjoy a period of relaxation, meals and an overnight stay.

Day 2

Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

We begin our journey in the early morning with a 10-hour walk to Horombo Hut. The landscape becomes much more rocky and rugged, but the views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks are absolutely superb. We will spend the night at Horombo Hut, at an altitude of 3,761m (12,335 ft).

Day 3

Horombo Hut (for acclimatization)

We will spend the entire day in the same location focusing purely on acclimatization. We will stay within the area and take a short visit to Zebra Rock, eventually heading back to Camp for lunch and relaxation.

Day 4

Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

We will embark on a 13 kilometer, 5-hour walk to Kibo Hut (4,732m/15520 ft), experiencing spectacular mountain vegetation and beautiful scenery, making this rigorous experience entirely worth it!

Day 5

Kibo Hut to Summit

Rising to an early morning 2am wake-up call, we will make a 5-hour climb up the steepest and most difficult part of the route to Gillman’s point (5681m/18630 ft). From Gillman’s, it will take us an additional 2 hours to reach Uhuru Peak (5896m/19344ft). We will then descend back to Horombo Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6

Horombo Hut to Arusha

After breakfast, we begin a rapid descent to the gate where you will enjoy lunch, champagne and a certificate to celebrate your achievement. We will then transfer you drive back to your hotel in Arusha for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Approximate time taken: 6-7 hours

Meals: Bed & breakfast

 
Depart Tanzania

We will provide an airport transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home… or, better yet… you can continue your adventure with a Tanzanian safari!

TIPPING
