Momella Gate (1,500m) – Miriakamba Hut (2,541m)

Hiking Time: 4–6 hours

Your day begins with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Arusha (approx. 1 hour drive) or Moshi (approx. 3 hours) to Momella Gate, located inside Arusha National Park. After registration and meeting your team (guide, porters, cook, and an armed park ranger), your trek officially begins.

The trail passes through open grasslands—ideal for spotting wildlife such as buffaloes, warthogs, and antelope. You’ll cross the Ngare Nanyuki River and continue your ascent through the dense mountain forest, home to black-and-white colobus monkeys and diverse bird species.

Arrive at Miriakamba Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.

Miriakamba Hut (2,541m) – Saddle Hut (3,570m)

Hiking Time: 3–5 hours

Today’s hike is shorter but steeper. You’ll start early and trek through a lush forest teeming with birds toward Elephant Ridge, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the crater.

Continue upward to Saddle Hut, arriving around lunchtime. In the afternoon, take an acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,794m) for amazing sunset views, then return to Saddle Hut for dinner and rest.

🌄 Tip: Sleep early tonight to prepare for the midnight summit push.

Saddle Hut – Rhino Point – Socialist Peak (4,566m) – Momella Gate (1,500m)

Hiking Time: 11–13 hours (Total Trekking)

Begin your summit attempt between 1:00–2:00 AM. Trek steeply to Rhino Point (3,850m), then continue along a narrow ridge to reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) just in time for sunrise.

Enjoy breathtaking views, including Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. After photos and celebration, descend back to Saddle Hut for a quick break and continue your descent to Momella Gate. This final descent takes approximately 7–8 hours.

At the gate, you’ll say goodbye to your trekking crew and be transferred back to your lodge for a hot shower, dinner, and well-earned rest.

⚠️ Note: In case of ice or strong winds, the summit ridge may be impassable. Your guide will decide whether it is safe to continue.
